The Fern Glade

Welcome to The Fern Glade.

Located on the Murrundini River, The Fern Glade has two campsites. Both are right next to the river – sheltered by tall swamp gums, ferns and forest . There are swimming holes, trout, quiet tranquillity and lovely vistas from the hillside behind the river.

Conveniently located close to wineries, scenic reserves, 4WDing, scenic waterfalls, hiking trails and fishing spots. There is abundant native wild life on site and near by (kangaroos, wallabies, echidna and lots of wombats) and amazing and rare bird life as well.

Enjoy a peaceful riverside camp site. Campfires are permitted in thefire pits provided (fire wood can be supplied). Well behaved pets are permitted.

It’s a short walk to the onsite toilet facilities (150m). There is a rain water tank, and a picnic table for meals.

About

The original homestead (built in 1876) burnt down in the 2009 black Saturday fires. There still remains many 150+ year old elms and other European trees near the toilet block, which are delightful in autumn. Mid winter there are hundreds of yellow daffodils & white jonquils. We have some fantastic views from the hill up and down the Murundindi Valley, especially at sunset.

There is plenty of trout and expect to see a lot of wildlife (say “hello” to Harry the wombat).

We’re located only a few short km’s from Wilhelmina Falls and Murundindi Scenic Reserve, you get the best part of the river, without the crowds. We are a short drive from Melbourne, and easy access to the townships of Yea and Yarra Glen for supplies if you need them.
